Oana Avasilichioaei is an emerging Montreal writer. A graduate of Concordia University (MA in Creative Writing and Literature), she works and teaches at Dawson College in Montreal, and runs the Atwater Poetry Project. She is currently collaborating with คุณ เล่น การ พนัน ภาษา อังกฤษErin Mouré on a dialogic work involving translation from and to Romanian texts by Paul Celan and Nichita Stanescu. Excerpts from this long work have been accepted for publication in Canada, Norway, and Australia. Oana Avasilichioaei has published two translations of Stanescu's poetry (including Occupational Sickness, Buschek Books, 2006) and a book of her own poems (Abandon, Wolsak & Wynn, 2005). She has published excerpts from a work in process, Feria: A Poempark, in a number of journals, and has given readings across Canada as well as in Slovenia. Avasilichioaei will be an invited speaker in May, 2006 in Vigo, Spain as part of a doctoral translation program seminar at the Universidade de Vigo on "Tradución e construción da identidade: tradución literaria e cultural (gl/pt>en/fr>ro>gl)".
